kNEW mOOn

March 10th 1:10AM PST
20 degrees Pisces Sun and Moon

Sabian Symbol for 21 degrees Aquarius
"The window of a farmhouse yields its view of soft purple fields and the table is set for a quiet supper."

All cultures have them but in India is one of my favorite new moon festivals; Shiva Ratri, the waning crescent moon each month is a 'mini-ratri' but this being the 'darkest' moon the final in the cycle it's the big party-puja, makes burning man look like a Tupperware party. Ritual baths are only as effective as we allow them to be. Ghee hits the flame starting on Tuesday and culminating with the New Moon Thursday morning At 1:10AM PST, factor for your time zone.

And since no matter what the culture we're emanating from or what one we are appropriating the cycles of the moon are embedded in the texts and holidays. So for the lunar cycle this is a magic moment where the snake has its tail in its mouth. It links the beginning to the ending. Simple wishes and even shaky prayers all flourish here. It's best to completely wipe down the physical, mental and soul houses. Clear ourselves of worry and blame, get a moment to use the natural world as an affirmation of the process. We don't have to understand it use it, just recognize it.

One great thing about being at the end is that the beginning is the next step. In the present moment this moon asks us to look at the path we've been on. This is the moment where we can slip through time and space, gaining a vision of the whole cycle. Laying this impression gained over how things are really gives us the opportunity to realize the places, people and events in our lives that may not fit. Some choose not to look. All good. But I've heard it said, "live with reality or reality will come to live with you." Such is the impact of the 12th house, the last sign of the zodiac. None of us are stuck anywhere in the story of birth-living-death; Aries through Pisces symbolically. Of the cycle we are the cycle. Now is the time to take that opportunity to feel it.

Do to the green house effect we're already planting the garden and eating some of the first tender shoots. Blessings on your planting and harvest!

Highlights of the waxing Pisces Moon

Thurs. 3.10 -Sun and Moon conjunct plus trine with Saturn in Cancer.
A grounding force for this new moon, the reality is where you are heading is where you will go. Saturn will let you know if it's not the right physical, mental or emotional direction. No matter what you think or sense the physical is still here wearing the coat woven in reality by Saturn.

Sunday 3.13- Jupiter in Libra Trine Neptune in Aquarius
Outer planet transits may take a while to become evident on a social level. Checking to see what you have in the signs or with the planets involved gives one a better sense of how to transmit it. This is expansive desires for harmony mixing with revolutionary visions and things that may not fit neatly, even an obsessively revolutionary zeal. In this light Osama and George Dubya have a lot in common.

Monday 3.14- Venus in Pisces Trine Saturn in Cancer.
For the Vedics, Persian, Sumerian, Chinese, etc., most long standing astrology systems view Saturn with a bit of dread. The cycles of Saturn define individual lives and generations. It takes 29-30 years for a cycle; the birthdays of 30,60,and 90 have significance even to the most jaded. So a harmonious aspect to this tough Saturn is welcome. The psychic nature of Pisces and the essence of harmony and beauty Venus can pull some brightness into log-jammed issues of the body. Whether that be your knees or the body politic of the UN.

Thursday 3.17-Venus in Pisces Square Pluto in Sagittarius
Now done with Saturn, Venus has a conversation with Pluto on the hard 90-degree angle. It's St. Patrick's Day also, so there will be many who take this to a violent degree in apparently seeking their version of beauty and order. Internally we can shed some tough love on ourselves and root out the internal saboteurs.

Sunday 3.20- Sun ingress into Aries !!!
Ahh, spring in the northern hemisphere and autumn in the south. Both feel like relief from the intense season of extremes that has passed. Now we have a fresh look at the land inside and out. Enjoy nature even in the city, subtle lessons and signs of hope in the bloom and harvest.

Sunday 3.20-Mars ingress into Aquarius
Especially you sad sack Aquarians are going to get a boost, but all of us are going to have an urge to revolutionize exterior nature. It is a bit like the precocious nine year old gleefully showing the Uncles how to use the computer. We must use a bit of care and sensitivity when springing new ideas or functions on people. Make sure they understand the basics. It works internally also, how often do we push ourselves harshly out of old patterns, now is a time to refresh the personal motivation style.

Monday 3.21 Saturn stations direct 20 degrees Cancer
Mercury Retrograde is something we all hear get excited about. All the planets go through this phase, or more accurately our movement puts them in this apparent 'backward' motion in the sky. So it's a release of the stored energy they represent when they move direct and 'forward' again. The retrograde cycle is a review process, what was the body, forcing you to look at since late autumn? Now you are to be relieved see some flow in physical arenas where there has been stall: contracts, negotiations, healing procedures.

Tuesday 3.22 Venus ingress into Aries
Venus in Aries is that explosive, magnets can't let go style of love. On a higher octave of love beyond the romantic it is truly heart out, community to community, family to family. A great time to grab onto how energizing feeling love is. Hey, it strengthens the immunity system and makes the endocrine system giggle. So while the shyness is melted away by Aries flash your Venus as much as possible -- what a great habit to develop.
